At Ntarama Memorial, we met Martin, who needed a ride to the other genocide church at Nyamata. We learned that he was planning to clean the bones of his family, killed there in 1994. He carried a small sack of a chemical he was going to use to prepare the remains for burial. He is speaking with Zeynep Taydas, a member of our delegation.
Now, Martin is an orphan. Though he completed his education in science, there are no jobs for him in Rwanda.
Behind him are the mass graves containing the remains of over 12,000 people.
